Welcome to Barksdale AFB, home of 8th Air Force, 2d Bomb Wing and the
917th Wing. Barksdale is also home to both the B-52 Stratofortress
and the A-10 Thunderbolt II.
Team Barksdale is focused on four major areas: Power,
People, Places and Prices. Because maintaining a strong, capable aerospace force is
crucial to our national defense, air power is our reason for being. Although our
impressive aircraft are what most people think of when they hear the words 'air power,'
the real strength behind America's Air Force is our people. We work hard to recruit, train
and retain the sharpest corps of airmen in the world. To successfully 'recruit the
individual and retain the family,' we constantly strive to ensure a high quality of life
for our entire Air Force family. We do this through a variety of financial, educational,
retirement and other benefits, but perhaps our most visible effort is what we do to ensure
our people have safe, healthy places to live, work and play. While we're busy providing
strong airpower for America, with top quality people and places, we also endeavor to be
good stewards of the taxpayers' dollars, making every effort to use our limited resources
appropriately and responsibly.
